Chevrolet is optimizing towing capabilities on the Silverado 1500 by adding a new myChevrolet trailering app system. All new light-duty Chevy trucks can get the Advanced Trailering System, which also pairs with the Trailering Camera Package. In short, Chevrolet is revolutionizing the way you tow and haul.
According to Chevrolet, the apps work to provide important information when towing and hauling. For instance, the technology can tell you the combined weight of truck and trailer combinations. There’s also a step-by-step towing checklist, a glossary of towing terms, and light tests — among other things. Those who select the Trailer Camera Package will get a standard rear vision camera, as well as two side view cameras to help with reversing.
“Ultimately, these technologies serve to eliminate common pain points of towing and help provide customers with a less stressful experience while trailering,” said Tim Herrick, executive chief engineer, Full-Size Trucks, General Motors.
Additionally, you can keep track of mileage and fuel economy while you’re towing, and you will also be able to monitor transmission temperature to avoid overheating while towing. There’s also Trailer Theft Alert to keep your materials better protected while wireless trailer tire and temperature monitoring keeps you up-to-date on your trailer.
