The Chevrolet team made a strong impression at this year’s first NASCAR races. After having three drivers in the top five in Las Vegas, Chevrolet took first place at the Auto Club 400 at Auto Club Speedway.
Driver Alex Bowman was behind the wheel of the winning Chevrolet. His success on March 1st was an echo of his solid performance at the two practices leading up to it, where he was the fastest at both.
Bowman was just one of four Chevrolet drivers to place in the top 10 at the Auto Club 400. Kurt Busch trailed close behind him in third place, followed by Chase Elliott in fourth, and Jimmie Johnson in seventh. Chevrolet was in the lead for 63.5 percent of the race, with a Chevy driver in the front for 127 of 200 laps.
Last year, the Chevrolet team didn’t place first until the 10th race of the season, so the members take it as a strong sign that this victory came in just the third race. The win is in large part thanks to the strength of drivers like Bowman and Busch. However, these same drivers are quick to point out that it’s truly the Chevrolet engineering that allows them to score such good times.
Sadly, not all of us have the luxury of trying out a Chevrolet race car, but you can be sure that that same quality engineering is present in every model on our lot at Ginn Chevrolet.
